Trainwreck
By D. Johnson

The lights are on, the lights are out.
If you can't see, I guess you'll have to shout.
We're kicking in doors and lighting the fuse,
Nothing's gonna get in our way.
To hell with the warning lights, I can hear it coming,
And it's roaring like a Tidal Wave.

We're running like a Train Wreck.
Cashing like a bad check.
Stopping with the hand break.
Can't slow down, I can't wait.
I'm shouting at a brick wall,
But I think the bricks can't hear at all.
We're covering the house bets.
Sounding like a Trainwreck.

Look at her dancing the way she does.
I've got to ask her just because.
Mess it up, Baby, I like the way you move,
And I like to hear your engines moan.
But watch for the warning lights, Stop Look and Listen
Can't you hear the whistle blow?

We're running like a Train Wreck.
Cashing like a bad check.
Stopping with the hand break.
Can't slow down, I can't wait.
I'm shouting at a brick wall,
But I think the bricks won't take the fall.
We're covering the house bets.
Sounding like a Train Wreck.

Girl Named Jenna
by D. Johnson

Singing along with a song on the radio,
Can’t take it, too hip, gotta go.
She’s looking through me, I’m about to cross a fine line.
Going crazy, ‘cause she’s driving me out of my mind.

Can’t tell if it’s just infatuation.
Can’t tell if it’s my imagination.
I wanna tell her but there’s nothing to say,
I wanna leave her but there’s just no getting away.

She’s just a girl named Jenna
She’s just a beautiful girl.
She’s just a girl named Jenna.
Oh, and Jenna’s everything I ever wanted in the whole wide world.

She talks like we ought to be lovers,
When I see her she won’t even let me touch her
I wanna hold her, wanna tell her that she’s all mine
Going crazy ‘cause she’s driving me out of my mind.

She’s kind of like an open book,
She’s kind of like a mystery.
She’s kind of like a question mark
And mostly that’s what I see.

‘Cause I don’t know what she want’s,
I couldn’t get it for her if I did.
And as far as I know, It’s all for show,
And the only part that’s real is the part you don’t see,

She’s just a girl named Jenna,
She’s just a beautiful girl
She’s just a girl named Jenna,
Oh, and Jenna’s everything I ever wanted in the whole wide world.

Color Bars
by D. Johnson

Another perfect day, there’s nothing to do.
It’s two AM; I’m watching the tube.
There’s people outside, I don’t know who they are.
They’re yelling at me, but I don’t care.

I’m watching Color Bars!
They take up my time.
Color Bars!
They make up my mind.
Color Bars!
They parallel lines.
The Color Bars! The Color Bars!

A quarter to three, I can’t get to sleep.
I go to the kitchen; I want something to eat.
The kitchen has knives; it’s a dangerous place.
The TV is screaming, the sound that it makes.

The sound of Color Bars!
They take up my time.
Color Bars!
They make up my mind.
Color Bars!
They parallel lines.
The Color Bars! The Color Bars!

Color Bars are my friends, Color Bars never end,
They just go on and on.
When there’s nothing to do, Color Bars love you too,
Color Bars can be lots of fun. Color Bars can be lots of fun.

It’s three AM; I’m still watching TV.
The Color Bars Show, but now they’re watching me.
You may try to hide, but where ever you are.
You can’t run away from a colorful bar

Color Bars!
They make up my mind.
Color Bars!
They take up my time.
Color Bars!
They parallel lines
The Color Bars! Color Bars!

Seems Like Forever
by D. Johnson

Walked down lovers lane this morning,
In the cold hard light of day.
I probably should be at work,
But I just don’t feel that way.
Bought a paper at the five and dime,
Bought a coffee at the coffee shop,
Walked clear on down to the river,
Just to have somewhere to walk.

I know she thinks about me, now and then,
When she hears that stupid song.
‘Bout the boy and girl in love together,
‘Bout how love could never do them wrong.
And I tried everything to make her stay,
Then I tried even harder to let her go,
Then I tried to drink a bottle every day,
But that was a long time ago.

And it seems like forever when she’s gone
And it seems like forever when she’s gone away.
The sun don’t rise, and the stars don’t shine.
And it seems like forever’s gonna last
A long long time.

Gray skies and cold, cold rain,
The river don’t look so friendly today.
The paper says tonight it’s gonnna freeze,
And it ain’t just the river that’s cold and gray.
I’m not complaining, you understand,
Sometimes you give, sometimes you get.
It’s just your ghost coming back again,
When I thought I already paid that bet.

And it seems like forever when she’s gone
And it seems like forever when she’s gone away.
The sun don’t rise, and the stars don’t shine,
And it seems like forever’s gonna last
A long long time.

If it rains again tonight,
I guess I’ll have to go back inside.
But I think the weather’s gonna hold,
And I think I’m gonna walk all night.
And there’s a boat drifting down the river
And sometimes the river flows so fast.
And sometimes it flows so slow,
You can’t even tell it’s moving past.

And it seems like forever when she’s gone
And it seems like forever when she’s gone away.
The sun don’t rise, and the stars don’t shine,
And it seems like forever’s gonna last
A long long
time.

12 Bar Blues
by Cris Hart & D. Johnson

Took my Baby out on the town,
We stopped at all the bars we found.
Drinkin’ and Dancin’ all night long,
At a quarter to three we were still going strong,
The eleventh bar ran out of booze,
That’s why I got the 12 Bar Blues.

Four in the morning we wanna get gassed,
Thinking ‘bout all the bars we passed.
All the bars got signs that say,
“This here bar is closed today.”
All those signs are such bad news
That’s why I got the 12 Bar Blues.

When you’re walking from bar to bar,
No matter how near, no matter how far.
When you ain’t got nothing left to loose,
Then you know that you got the 12 Bar Blues!

Far and wide we’re looking for beer,
There must be a bar some where near here.
When we hop bars well we don’t pause,
And we don’t care about Cops or laws.
‘Cause when we’re thirsty we want booze,
And then we sing the 12 Bar Blues.

What Does Donna Want?
by Cris Hart & D. Johnson

I went to see her yesterday
(Tell me what does Donna want.)
She told me to go away
(Tell me what does Donna want.)

It’s easy to see,
You don’t wanna believe
That it’s true.
She doesn’t want you.
She doesn’t want you.
She doesn’t want you.

I asked her to go out with me.
(Tell me what does Donna want.)
She stayed home and watched TV
(Tell me what does Donna want.)

It’s easy to see,
You don’t wanna believe
That it’s true.
She doesn’t want you.
She doesn’t want you.
She doesn’t want you.

Donna, Donna, Yeah! Yeah!
Donna, Donna, Yeah! Yeah!
Donna, Donna, Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
I went to see her yesterday
(Tell me what does Donna want.)
She told me to go away
(Tell me what does Donna want.)

It’s easy to see,
You don’t wanna believe
That it’s true.
She doesn’t want you.
She doesn’t want you.
She doesn’t want you.

I asked her to go out with me.
(Tell me what does Donna want.)
She stayed home and watched TV
(Tell me what does Donna want.)

It’s easy to see,
You don’t wanna believe
That it’s true.
She doesn’t want you.
She doesn’t want you.
She doesn’t want you.

Eight Arms to Hold You
by D. Johnson

Come on Baby! Remember what I said now!
Come on Baby! It’s too late to forget now!
‘Cause I got
Eight arms to hold you!
Eight arms to hold you!
Eight arms to hold you, oh yeah!

Come on Baby! Love you all the time now!
Come on Baby! Gonna make you mine now!
‘Cause I got
Eight arms to hold you!
Eight arms to hold you!
Eight arms to hold you, oh yeah!

Remember what you told me
Remember what you said!
You said that you’d be true tonight
I wanna be with you tonight!

Come on Baby! It’s gonna be all right now!
Come on Baby! I wanna hold you tight now!
‘Cause I got
Eight arms to hold you!
Eight arms to hold you!
Eight arms to hold you, oh yeah!

Remember what you told me
Remember what you said!
You said that you’d be true tonight
I wanna be with you tonight!

Well come on Baby! You know how much I love you!
Come on Baby! I’m always thinking of you!
‘Cause I got
Eight arms to hold you!
Eight arms to hold you!
Eight arms to hold you, oh yeah!

(Ok, this song requires a brief explanation, ‘cause no, it’s not about an octopus.
The original name of the Beatles second movie was “Eight Arms To Hold You.”
Then John Lennon wrote “Help!” and everyone said “That’s a much better title,”
leaving the title with no song. Others have tried to rectify that situation. This is my attempt.)

(Ain’t Never Goin’) Down Th’ Road Again
by D. Johnson

Got my mind on the sky and my wheels on the road,
Headed down the Highway, ain’t got nowhere to go.
I don’t know what’s ahead, but there’s trouble behind,
I’m gonna leave it back there for now if you don’t mind.

‘Cause I been there before,
I’m gonna be there again,
But I ain’t never going down that road again.

Well she long and tall and blonde and sweet.
She looks just like a woman, but she’s seventeen.
It was a friendly night in a lonely motel,
Until the Sheriff and his boys shot the place to hell.

Well, I been there before,
I’m gonna be there again,
But I ain’t never going down that road again.

Miami to Savanna, I-95
A dollar-fifty in my pocket, but it’s good to be alive.
See that hitchhiker standing on the side of the street,
Well, she look kinda young, but she look kinda sweet,

Well, I been there before,
I’m gonna be there again,
But I ain’t never going down that road again.

California Rose
by D. Johnson

Last night I saw her looking through my bedroom window,
It took a while for me to see through her disguise.
She comes by often when I’m looking for a reason,
A smile on her face,
And something like the distance in her eyes.

No one expects to see her coming through the valley,
But there’s a candle in the window if she forgets the way.
No one expects to see a sea part before them,
But somehow, sometimes,
It seems like things just work out that way.

Carry on California Rose.
I swear you’re the sweetest flower that grows.
And the only thing that blooms along
A California Highway.
Is the crimson colored petals of the California Rose.

It don’t matter, fast or slow.
She’s gonna come, and She’s gonna go.
There’s only one sure thing I know:
She’s coming home.
